Joe Parmelee serves as the senior partner of Parmelee Brothers Settlement Consultants, also-known-as Atlas Settlement Group’s St. Louis office.
Joe’s career in structured settlements began in 1986 in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for marketing, sales, and general structured settlements work. In 1989, he joined a prominent structured settlement firm, dedicating over 19 years to the company. In 2007, Joe brought his extensive experience to Atlas Settlement Group, Inc., assuming the role of senior partner in the St. Louis office.
With over 39 years of expertise, Joe has a comprehensive background in specialized claims areas such as the Federal Employers Liability Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, and the Jones Act. His work also encompasses general liability, excess liability, mass tort, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation cases. He actively participates in settlement conferences, arbitrations, and other hearings aimed at resolving cases. His expertise extends to analyzing life care plans and vocational rehabilitation reports, forecasting future loss of earnings, and lifetime medical awards.
An active member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association (NSSTA), Joe has delivered numerous presentations on structured settlements to national, regional, and local claims organizations. He has also taught structured settlement classes for the Association of American Railroads Claims School. Joe earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Russian Studies from Illinois State University in 1986.
In his personal life, Joe enjoys spending time with his family, engaging in sports, listening to music, reading literature, and fishing.
